“I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God made it grow.” (1 Cor 3:6)
We thank God for His abounding grace and mercy in bringing Mr. Seet Choon Yan into His sheepfold on 28 Feb 2011. Mr. Seet had been an ardent supporter of Love COPE right from the beginning. An ex-Chairman of the Board of trustees for a Chinese temple, Mr. Seet indicated in the presence of his youngest daughter and niece that he wanted to be baptized while hospitalized for end stage renal failure in SGH. Mr Seet was baptized by one of St. Hilda’s Church pastors and volunteer visiting him that day.
From the words of his daughter, the story started when volunteers and staff regularly visited him when he was hospitalized in the old St. Andrews’ Community Hospital in the early days of Love COPE. So when the time came to downgrade and sell his 5-room flat in Block 11, he grabbed Block 4 Jalan Batu. His criteria to his agent being that he cannot leave Kampong Arang, the Coffee Bin and the angsahs who have become his firm friends. No other place in Singapore would do!
Over the past 10 odd years, volunteers and staff continued to visit Mr Seet, love him and interacted with him at the many events. Mr Seet had also heard the gospel repeatedly and in the testimony of his daughter have “believed in his heart”.
This is evidenced from his regular attendance of the Friday Senior Citizens’ Time and the Hokkien services. Moreover, his heart was already “50-50” from the first time he encountered the love of Christ through the Love COPERs but for some very personal reasons, had held back this decision till now.
Love COPERs, your persistence and prayers have blessed Mr Seet as God who makes things grow and broke through into his heart that day. Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. (Gal 6:9) All Glory to God!
